Virtual Reality connects people in a new way

“It’s a machine, but inside of it, it feels like real life, it feels like truth. And you feel present in the world that you’re inside and you feel present with the people that you’re inside of it with…”
Chris Milk, Filmmaker, 2015

Virtual Reality is best understood when experienced. And although this Ted Talk from 2015 does not point to a specific business application, it does demonstrate the human condition and extend empathy in a way no other medium can: through experience. It’s worth a ten-minute investment of your time:

And after viewing, perhaps think about how this idea could transfer to business applications like showing a industrial engineer a day in the life of a line worker and how that could lead to better process design. Or help your foundation recruit volunteers to help rebuild a homeless shelter by showing what it’s like living out on the streets at night.
