Bringing surgical suite design to life

AR Improves Collaboration

Stryker is one of the world’s leading medical technology companies serving customers in Orthopedics, Medical and Surgical, and Neurotechnology and Spine medicine.

Stryker has recently employed the Microsoft Hololens Augmented Reality technology to assist in surgical suite design. In the video below, Stryker is bringing a 3D CAD drawing to life using Hololens which allows better visualization and collaboration between the customers and all design partners.

The current version of Hololens, still in its infancy, is limited by file size and an extremely limited field of view. However, these limitations are expected to be addressed in the subsequent releases.

The potential of AR is great. Many other vendors are bringing their own hardware and applications to the market, which points to its potential. Augmented Reality will be great for education, training, collaborative projects like design, and for museum displays, to name a few.

We are working on some now and if you’d like a demo, please contact us.
